The Olds College Broncos men’s basketball team has made its first addition for the 2019-20 season, signing guard Ben Nelson out of Holy Trinity Academy in Okotoks.

Kira Quashie, a member of the Olds Rapids swim team, obtained some great results during the 2019 Swim Alberta Summer Festival in Lethbridge.

École Olds High School track teams have had a very successful season this spring, according to track coach Wanda Vandervelden. For example, 10 Spartans qualified for Provincials, which will be in Calgary June 7-8.

Olds Velites track coach Rachel Andres set a new meet record and is now ranked third in Canada after her performance in the New Balance Series meet #1, held May 26 in Calgary.

INNISFAIL – After more than 30 years, the Innisfail Horseshoe Club held its last tournament at the original site. The annual event took place at the Innisfail horseshoe courts on May 25 and 26.

Bob Murray of Bowden, a former Olds College athletic director now working as manager of athletics at SAIT, has been named the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Athletic Director of the Year.

Grade 7 École Deer Meadow School athlete Aislin Carrick literally ran away with four events during the Junior High Zones track meet in Didsbury last week. Carrick won the 100 metre (m), 200 m, 400 m, and 1,500 m races.
