1936 - 2025
Delores Anne Bluck (Dodd) passed away suddenly in her sleep on July 15, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Born on May 13, 1936, she lived a service filled life from beginning to end. She touched the lives of many people along the way.
When she was a child, Delores attended country school travelling by cart and pony with her sisters in the Bennett area east of Olds. She graduated from Composite High School in Red Deer. She received her education at the Calgary General Hospital graduating as a Registered Nurse with the Class of 1957. Her relationships with her classmates were very dear to her.
While practicing nursing in Calgary she met the love of her life, Paul Bluck. They married in 1958 and lived in Calgary, Miami for a brief period, then settled on their own homestead west of Olds, then retiring in 1990 in Bowser, BC. She and Paul became faithful members of the Church of God, Nanaimo congregation and kept in touch with her pastor regularly.
When Delores wasn't nursing at the hospital, organizing and nursing in the Home Care program she could be found in her vegetable and flower gardens.
She loved to preserve the produce, to cook and especially to bake many kinds of goodies. She enjoyed making meals and baking to the end of her life.
Towards the end of her life she returned to Olds, bought a new home, and enjoyed spending time with her sisters and extended family. She was lovingly supported in her home by special care givers.
Delores is survived by her sisters Doreen Brunner, Louise Kobberstad; her sister-in-law Margaret Zimmerman; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She loved them all!
Predeceased by her parents Walter and Eva Dodd; her husband Paul Bluck; sister Lois Erickson; brother in laws Al Brunner and Vic Kobberstad.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life for our beloved family member on August 9, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites Olds AB.
