Tryouts for the fall sports season were already underway last week at École Innisfail Jr./Sr. High School. “Next year is a developing year for us,” said Jeff Anderson, athletic director and vice-principal for the school.

The Dolphin Swim Club attended its second meet of the season on June 15 and 16 in Lacombe. Thirty-four swimmers were at the meet and swam an amazing 14,775 metres. Once again, the team had some fantastic finishes.

The Olds Stingers lost a pair of games in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League action on the weekend, getting outlasted 10-9 in overtime Saturday against the High River Heat and getting doubled up on, 6-3, by the Calgary Wranglers on Sunday.

Olds Olympia FC won their fourth game in a row on Sunday in Red Deer City Soccer Association men's league play, defeating Roynx 8-3. Olympia now has a record of 4-2 after suffering losses in the team's first two games.

The Olds Athletics are still looking for their first victory of the season after dropping a pair of games against the Carstairs Cubs and Red Deer Razorbacks last week in Parkland Baseball League play.

The U-14 girls soccer team from Olds made it a clean sweep in Big Country Soccer Association play this season, defeating Carstairs 2-0 in the final to claim gold at the championships on Saturday.

Local athletic therapist Rebecca Spiers was part of the senior inline men's team that recently won the International Ice Hockey Federation's world championship in Ingolstadt, Germany from June 1 to 7.
