For the past 70 years the annual Innisfail Farmers and Farmerettes Bonspiel has been a source for friendships, good times and plenty of curling. The annual weeklong event ran from Jan. 17 to Jan.

The Innisfail Bantam A Four Lane Flyers are playing their way to a successful season. They recently squared off against league rival the Foremost Flyers from southern Alberta, winning the game 1-0 on Jan. 16.

It would be pretty hard to top the way Faith Walton celebrated her birthday — playing badminton on a tropical island. The Olds High School student turned 16 years old on Jan.

Olds has its own group committed to developing badminton players. On any given Monday night, as many as 40 people of varying ages show up at Deer Meadow School to play.

The junior varsity Sundre High School boys' Scorpions basketball team has lots of individual talent, said the squad's coach.

The Bowden Blades novice hockey team received $250 from Bowden town council to help cover costs for its annual tournament, held this past weekend (Jan. 23-24).
