Olds-area athlete Nils Haeni was named Lineman of the Game for the South team during the annual Senior Bowl, which serves as a high school football all-star game. Haeni, 18, a defensive end, lives on a farm east of Olds.

Former Olds resident Andreas Troschke has a shot at being named the 2017 Athletics Alberta Junior Athlete of the Year. The winner will be announced June 16 in Calgary.

Members of the Rotary Club of Olds have now raised $75,000 toward their $500,000 commitment to help fund extras like beachers, etc., for the new Rotary Athletic Park, currently under construction north of Walmart.
