Golf courses in the region are finally open after a winter that seemed to last forever. The Carstairs Community Golf Club held its opening day on May 3.

A rural Olds youth has been named to the Football Alberta South all star team. As a result, Nils Haeni, a defensive end, will be playing in the annual Football Alberta Senior Bowl May 22 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.

PENHOLD – Willa Wanke knows what it takes to finish a race. That includes overcoming any obstacle that stands in her way. The 52-year-old runner set her sights on participating in her third consecutive Boston Marathon on April 16.

DIDSBURY - The Didsbury Curling Club held its annual general meeting last week and members are looking forward to a bright future. The club recently wrapped up another successful season in mid-March with league play ending.

CARSTAIRS - With a late start to spring, soccer in the area is a little behind. Registration numbers are slightly down this year, said Carstairs Minor Soccer president Mandy Longeway.

The finals of 2017-18 for the Mountain View Junior Cowpoke Rodeo saw about 70 young athletes competing, with about 40 family members and other fans coming out to watch.
