The Grand Olds Opry will hit the stage May 2 and will be headlined by Canadian country artist Russell deCarle, one of the founding members of Prairie Oyster, a famed country band.

Although music has always been a part of his life, a local pianist who has performed around the world developed his passion to pursue his career after exploring other options.

As many as 30 artists will be displaying a variety of work at the Sundre West Country Centre this weekend. The Sundre Art Society is hosting the 44th annual show and sale, which is open to the public free of charge.

INNISFAIL – One-act productions will once again be in the spotlight. Innisfail Town Theatre (ITT) is hosting the Heartland Region Alberta Drama Festival Association (ADFA) One Act Festival at the Ol' Moose Hall on April 27.

DIDSBURY - Holly Prest-Smith of Didsbury recently pulled off a pretty amazing feat – the 22 year old ended up winning both the 2019 Olds Idol competition and the All-Star Idol competition on back-to-back nights.

A series of paintings dubbed Sundre Girls by the local artist who created them is on display at the local library until early next month. “There are some exceptional girls,” said Laara Cassells, who lives northeast of Sundre.

Shovels went in the ground on Saturday marking the official start of the construction of the new community gazebo.

Two Olds High School (OHS) students were given the chance to display their artwork during the 2019 Alberta University of the Arts Show Off competition and exhibition in Calgary. The event, for students in grades 10-12, was held March 11-23.
