Innisfail town councilor Jean Barclay serves food to seniors and has plenty of laughs during the opening of this year's Mayor & Seniors Garden Party at the Innisfail & District Historical Village on June 4.

INNISFAIL -- The town is inching closer to creating a formal policing advisory committee that would assist and engage the RCMP, community and council on safety needs and priorities for the community.

INNISFAIL – The local fire department is reminding citizens to regularly check their smoke alarms following a recent potentially deadly apartment fire near the downtown core. At about 10:40 p.m.

INNISFAIL – It will be an all-Eagles affair for Alberta AAA senior men’s hockey. The Innisfail Eagles and the Stony Plain Eagles will make up the two-team Allan Cup Hockey West League (ACHW) in the 2019-20 season.

INNISFAIL – Big Bend Airport is set to host the western portion of the 2019 Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) convention. The three-day event will take place from June 6 to 8.

Hundreds of visitors came out to enjoy the second day of the 2019 Asparagus Festival at Edgar Farms on Sunday (June 2). The annual festival takes place over three consecutive Sundays - May 26, June 2 and June 9 and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BOWDEN - Police are investigating an incident in which more than $600,000 worth of prohibited items were found at the medium security unit of Bowden Institution.

Close to 60 kids participated in the Innisfail Bike Rodeo at the Innisfail Library/Learning Centre on Saturday (June 1).
