MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Ken Musselman says if he’s elected in Mountain View County Division 6 in October he will promote and support the agriculture community as one of his top priorities.

Seeking public office for the first time, Musselman is an acreage owner in the division, which is located northeast of Sundre on the county’s north boundary.

Musselman will face off against incumbent two-term councillor Peggy Johnson, who also plans to seek the seat in next month’s election. Other candidates may also join the race until Sept. 22.

While there are several issues facing the division and county, Musselman says helping the agriculture producers in the division will be job one for him.

“I’m very supportive of farming and the agriculture industry,” he said. “I have a place in my heart for the agriculture industry, and that would be one of my main goals, supporting them.

“Agriculture runs Division 6 and Division 6 relies on agriculture. I think I can be a strong supporter of that.”

Musselman says he has been encouraged by a number of division residents to seek the council seat on Oct. 20.

Asked he has any comments on two-term councillor Johnson’s past two terms, he said no.
