OLDS — Town of Olds staff have issued some information and advice for residents regarding the Oct. 20 municipal election.
In a news release, staff note that in order to vote, you must be:
• at least 18 years old,
• a Canadian citizen,
• an Olds resident on election day and
• can provide authorized identification.
The release contains a link to ensure residents are registered to vote: Register today.
Nominations for those who wish to run for a council seat close Sept. 22 at 12 noon.
Candidate information packages are available via this link: Candidate Information Package. Prospective candidates will have to book an appointment to submit nomination papers.
The Town of Olds is hiring trained election workers for the general election and advance polls.
Anyone interested in doing that work can apply now via the Election Worker Application Form.
Advance polls will be held at Jean's Place in the Community Connection Centre at 4912 51 Avenue:
• Thursday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
• Thursday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and
• Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On election day (Monday, Oct. 20), votes can be cast at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105, at 5241 46 St., from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
