SUNDRE – It’s that time of year and the local legion has once again been firing up its grill for its monthly barbecue supper.

The seasonal do-it-yourself barbecue at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #223 in Sundre started earlier this spring and runs the third Thursday of each month through the summer until September.

The next barbecue will be held Thursday, July 17.

Among those attending the last barbecue on Thursday, June 19 was Sundre resident Mark Anderson.

Although he had never before dropped by the monthly steak barbecue, Anderson told the Albertan he wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity when a friend and colleague offered to spot him the $25 cost, which comes complete with side dishes and dessert as well as alternate options for the grill, including pork or chicken.

Organizers say the event not only serves up an opportunity to raise funds but it also offers members of the community a chance to connect and socialize while supporting their local legion.
