SUNDRE – Mounties are reminding motorists to keep an eye out for volunteer cleanup crews who this Saturday, May 3 will be out tidying up ditches along Alberta’s highways.
The Sundre RCMP issued a press release advising drivers that teams will be helping to clean up provincial highways throughout Alberta as part of the annual highway cleanup program.
Every spring, thousands of volunteers work together to help keep Alberta’s roadways clean while along the way raising funds to support local non-profit organizations.
Motorists can expect to see volunteers wearing bright safety vests as they collect garbage.
Sundre RCMP is encouraging drivers to stay alert and use caution when travelling near cleanup crews as well as asking people to keep the following tips in mind:
• Slow down when approaching volunteer crews.
• Obey all posted signs and watch for volunteers near the roadway.
• Be prepared for young participants – use extra caution.
• Give workers plenty of space and remain patient while passing cleanup areas.
