SUNDRE – An application to change the residential density on a parcel in the northeast would if approved potentially pave the way for new apartment buildings.
Council heard during the regular June 9 meeting that the planning and development department had received an application to amend the land use bylaw map to redesignate five residential lots at 106-114 12th Avenue NE from low density residential to general residential to accommodate four, eight-unit apartment buildings.
“The proposed development will integrate into the town’s existing municipal infrastructure,” said Chris Albert, director of corporate services and acting CAO.
“All essential services including water supply, sanitary sewer systems and storm water management will be connected to current municipal systems,” said Albert.
“However, it will be necessary to establish additional service connections to support the increased density of the proposed development,” he said.
Administration recommended the bylaw be given first reading and to set a public hearing date of June 23 at 4 p.m., with council unanimously carrying a motion to that effect.
