PHOTOS: Sundre hosts divisional junior track meet

Student athletes in Grade 7-9 competed in variety of events for chance to qualify for zones in Calgary

SUNDRE – More than 250 student athletes were in Sundre last week for the 2025 CESAA Junior High Track and Field Divisionals meet that was hosted in Sundre on Thursday, May 22. 

The participating teams were Chinook’s Edge School Division athletes from Sundre High School, 24; River Valley School, 51; Westglen School, 38; Hugh Sutherland High School, 43; Deer Meadow, 33; Didsbury High School, nine; Cremona, 25; Olds High School, nine; and Olds Koinonia, 27, said Sundre High School athletic director McKenzie McElhinney.

The track and field meet was for junior athletes in Grade 7-9, with the top two performers from each event earning a chance to compete in zones, which were held Tuesday, May 27 in Calgary and represent the highest level of competition for the age category. 

Sundre High School had the week prior also hosted on May 13 the 2025 CESAA Senior High Track and Field Divisionals for CESD students in Grades 10-12.
