SUNDRE - The 2025 Alberta Golf Championship season kicked off at Sundre Golf Club Monday with the 2025 Alberta Best Ball Championship.
Open to male and female amateur players, the May 19 event had no age or handicap restrictions.
Ryan DenBraber and Mickey Spencer from the Glendale Golf & Country Club beat Logan Graf and Cole Bergheim from the Red Deer Golf & Country Club on the first playoff hole to win the 2025 kick-off event.
Both pairings shot 9 under 63 in regulation to end up in a playoff.
“On the first playoff hole with Bergheim and Graf in trouble, DenBraber knocked his approach shot to the fringe at the back of the green and made the 2 putt for the victory,” officials said in an Alberta Golf release.
Players from across the province along with surrounding clubs competed.
Joe Kelly and Sean Kelly from Innisfail Golf Club finished in fifth with a total net of 68. Fellow Innisfail Golf Club members Jace Ouellete and Chance Ouellette finished in 21st place with a 71 while Brett Kelly and Colin Stefanyk also of Innisfail finished in 26th place with a 72.
Carstairs Golf Club’s Michael From and Isaac Sauders finished in 31st place with a 73.
Tim Hollman and Bobby McKinlay, members of Olds Golf Club and Alberta Golf Public Players Club - Edmonton, finished in 46th place with a 75.
