An Afghan veteran who visited Olds says he's heartened by signs he's seen that schoolchildren appreciate the sacrifices soldiers make on their behalf. Josh Pelland, 33, of Three Hills, spoke to members of the Olds Rapids swim team late last month.

BOWDEN - For the second time in a month, the Bowden Liquor Store has been robbed, and police are asking for your help to catch the thief. The latest incident occurred Oct. 30 at approximately 10 p.m.

Emergency crews were called to a semi trailer rollover at the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 2 on Nov. 2. Police say medical issues experienced by the driver are believed to be factors in the accident.

BOWDEN - The newly created It's A Dog's World Pet Resort is now the Town of Bowden's pound for stray or abandoned animals. Town councillors ratified an agreement to that effect during a council meeting late last month.

Halloween night was very quiet in Olds, according to RCMP and fire officials. Police were only called to seven incidents between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Olds RCMP commanding officer Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald says.

The Mountain View Food Bank (MVFB) is still seeing a flood of clients, four years after the price of oil tanked. MVFB volunteers say every Tuesday when the food bank is open, it serves between 50 and 60 people.

Olds RCMP are investigating a theft from the Rexall pharmacy in Olds. The robbery occurred on Sept. 10. Police say three males entered the pharmacy and picked up two Oral B electric toothbrushes as well as several bottles of perfume.

With the help of shoppers and the community at large, the Olds Walmart store raised nearly $23,000 for the Mountain View Food Bank (MVFB). That announcement was made last week at the food bank in Olds.
