OLDS — One of two planned free spring cleanup programs in Olds, Kick It to the Curb starts Saturday.

For the Kick It to the Curb program running May 9-11, residents are encouraged to move unwanted but gently used items to the curb, letting people know those items are free to take.

Participants are encouraged use the hashtag #OldsKickIt2025 and post them to the Town of Olds Facebook page.

“It's an easy way to clear out furniture, toys, tools, and other things that could be useful to someone else,” a Town of Olds news release says.

“Please remove anything left over after the weekend and consider dropping them off at a local second-hand store. Share what you’re giving away or find items you need.”

The second event is the pop-up transfer station which is an opportunity for residents to safely get rid of household hazardous waste.

Located at the the Town of Olds Operations Centre along 70th Avenue, it will operate Friday May 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This two-day event offers residents an easy way to safely dispose of household waste and hazardous materials like paint, tires, batteries, and lightbulbs without having to drive out of town or pay disposal fees,” the news release says. “One level truck-bed load per household will be accepted.”

In order to take advantage of this program, registration is required and must be completed between May 1 and May 22.

“The Town of Olds is proud to support these initiatives, contributing to a cleaner, more engaged community,” the news release says. “We encourage all residents to participate and help make this year’s clean-up a success.”
