July 27, 1931 – July 8, 2025
With sadness, the family of Emil Weisner announces his peaceful passing on July 8, 2025, at the age of 93.
Emil was born on July 27, 1931, in Olds, Alberta, to Gustave and Maria Weisner. He grew up on the family farm and attended Mayton School until Grade 9. From a young age, Emil learned the value of hard work. He continued helping on the family farm while also driving truck for Bob Herrle — a combination he managed with commitment and pride.
In 1956, Emil married the love of his life, Ellen Senetza. They built a life together based on love, family, and dedication. Emil began working for the county as a grader operator in 1957. In 1975, he bought his own grader and ran his own business for the next 20 years. After retiring in 1995, Emil and Ellen moved from the farm into town.
In retirement, they enjoyed travelling to rodeos and local events in their motorhome and spent winters in Arizona. They also loved watching curling and playing cards together. Emil and Ellen were deeply dedicated to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. Emil welcomed visitors warmly and was known for his sharp sense of humor and kind heart. He stayed closely connected to family and friends throughout his life.
He was fortunate to remain in the home he shared with Ellen until shortly before his passing.
Emil was predeceased by his daughter Roxanne and his seven siblings. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ellen; his children Cathy (Bill) and Brian (Laurie); his grandchildren Kim (Len), Ryan, David (Alicia), and Blaine (Layne); and his great-grandchildren Ryder, Cashton, Tucker, Geordann, Gracie, and Boe.
He will be remembered with love and missed by all who knew him.
