1953 – 2025
In loving memory of Mr. Robert “Jamie” Roberts who passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 72 years.
Jamie was born in Banff, Alberta on January 21, 1953, and was the youngest child of Marion “Jean” Roberts and Robert “Bob” Roberts. Jamie attended school in Airdrie, and SAIT in Calgary where he met his wife of 43 years, Karin. Together they had four children.
Jamie owned the Balzac General Store until 1988 when he moved to Cremona, Alberta. In Cremona, Jamie was actively involved with the village council. Jamie worked for many years at the Better Business Bureau and finished his career working at River Valley and Sundre High Schools.
Jamie was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Calgary Stampeders and Flames, and most recently the Red Deer Rebels. Jamie enjoyed his summers at Pine Lake, singing with the Tony Connelly Singers and his walks with Memory Trekkers. Jamie also enjoyed playing chess and cards with his fellow residents at Victoria Park.
Jamie is survived by his children, Shane Roberts (Erin Ross), Cora Roberts, Lisa McCaw and Trevor (Beth) Roberts; grandchildren, Lara, Nikolas, Ryan, Cale and Kemi; his mother-in-law Ida Dorbandt; and his brother Donald Roberts.
Jamie is predeceased by his wife Karin, mother Jean, father Bob, brothers Gord and Dave, father-in-law Otto, and sister-in-law Aline. The family is sincerely grateful to the staff on Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care during dad’s time there.
A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2:00p.m., at Parkland Funeral Home in Red Deer.
