Raymond Dallas Miller of Didsbury, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Olds Hospital on June 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93.
Born in Retlaw, Alberta, in 1931, Ray was the second of four children to Emil and Carolina Miller. The family farmed in the Hubalta area before settling east of Didsbury, where Ray spent his youth working alongside his family. Known for his playful sense of humour—especially his love of teasing his sisters—and his athletic spirit, Ray developed a lifelong passion for hockey and curling.
After graduating from Didsbury High School, Ray launched a gravel trucking business and helped build roads across Alberta. While working in Ribstone, he met the love of his life, June Morrison. They married in 1956 and began a life together that included raising a family and, eventually, returning to the Didsbury area to purchase and operate the family farm. Ray remained active on the farm well into his eighties.
Ray’s legacy lives on in his children: Doug Miller, Dennis Miller (Rose), Cathy Jorgensen (Rick), Debbie Miller, Brad Miller (Sherry), and Jodi Cook (Allan). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, June; his parents, Emil and Carolina; his brother, Leonard Miller; sisters, Marlene Dash and Lillian Devolin; and daughters-in-law, Susan and Lucy Miller.
