It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Joseph Elvin Mackinnon at the age of 79. Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Friday May 16th, 2025.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 31st at the First Baptist Church, Olds Alberta at 1:30pm. 

Joe was born in Toronto Ontario, December 15th, 1946 where he later married his childhood sweet heart Luana Jane October 23rd 1965. Joe was a man of many hats. In 1970 he began his career with the Metropolitan Police Service. Marched in the 2nd Field Engineers Band playing drum for the Regiment at Fort York Armouries from 1968-1974. Marched in the Toronto Signals marching band of the Canadian Royal Engineers Reserve core playing tennor from 1975-1985.

Founded and managed his own trucking company. Was a member of the Joy Fellowship at his church, Joe was always ready to prepare treats and sweets for luncheons or welcome and usher members to their seats. He was strongly devoted and dedicated to his church community. Joe was always happy to offer a ride with Joes Taxi services, and well known as Santa spreading the magic of Christmas all year round for over 40 years. He was a son, husband, father, grand father, great grandfather, brother and friend.

Joe joined his mother Jessie Evelyn Madden, father Archibald Elvin MacKinnon, beloved wife Luana Jane MacKinnon (sons David & Jeffery) in Heaven.

Joe is survived by His Children Joey Jr, Robert and Christine, along with his 19 Grand Children, 14 Great Grandchildren and Sister Cathy MacKinnon (and family)
