1932 ~ 2025
Surrounded by love, compassion and a determination to celebrate a final Mother’s Day, Irene Kemball passed away peacefully completing her journey with dementia on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Irene was born in Elie, Manitoba, on July 28, 1932, to Jim and Annette Cyr the second oldest of six children. Irene moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba, at a young age where she met and married Don Kemball and they had four children. They moved to Prince George, BC in 1970 and then Medicine Hat in 1976. In retirement they settled in Innisfail in 1996 to be closer to family.
Don and Irene quickly became close friends with neighbours. Irene was a social butterfly and always the organizer of social events. If there was a happy hour or table to be danced on, Irene was there with an Alberta Premium in one hand and a bag of Hawkins Cheezies in the other.
Family was the most important thing to Irene. In retirement she loved to spend time with family and made numerous trips to visit in Prince George, Vernon, Calgary and Pine Falls. When not visiting family, she liked to spend lunch hours at the Dairy Queen cleaning tables and visiting with customers who often became friends. She often called old friends just to chat and always made guests feel included, welcomed and looked after.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Donald, her parents Jim and Annette, her infant sister Olive, brothers Edward (Elaine), Art, and Ernest (Darlene). Irene is survived by her brother Ken (Sharon), sister-in-Law Shirley; and her children Karen (Dave), Jim (Chris), Mark (Christine) and Larry (Robyne); her grandchildren: Erik (Shannon), Jennifer (Aaron), Greg, Wade (Amanda), Michelle (Connor), Brian, Brett and Ben (Kenzie), nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Innisfail Library Centre.
