William (Bill) was born January 14, 1939, in Olds on a cold winter day. Parents were Clarence & Ivy Holmes.
Bill grew up on the family farm one mile east of Hainstock School, now community centre. September 1945, Bill was off to school at Hainstock. After grade 9, Bill went to Olds High School, the old red brick school, graduating in 1957.
Bill's first job was at Corbet's in Red Deer. They were an auto electric and parts wholesale. His career job was Hardware Clerk at Calgary CO-OP 1967 to 1994. Bill was bored in retirement and went to work for Gordon Taylor for another 18 years doing cleaning, main job was cleaning the Olds CO-OP store.
Bill never married but enjoyed travel. He saw all ten Canadian provinces, much of the U.S.A. and Europe.
Bill's happiest years were after meeting Shirley Linderman. They travelled to Ireland and to various local places.
There will be no funeral service in respect of Bill's wishes.
