November 6, 1948 - June 7, 2025
It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the peaceful passing of Larry Ray Burk, on June 7th, 2025, in Olds with his family by his side.
Larry was born on November 6, 1948, in Olds, Alberta to Harold and Irene Burk. Larry grew up in the James River area north of Sundre. He began working at a young age, operating heavy equipment across Alberta's north. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Carol, after a whirlwind courtship that blossomed into 54 years of partnership rooted in devotion, laughter, and family.
Larry spent over four decades with DBC and later with Netook, Ricky Martin Trucking, and Bauer Brothers, earning respect as a foreman known for his calm resolve, expertise, and integrity. Beyond the job sites, Larry was most at home with family-camping in the west country, quadding with grandkids, sharing quiet companionship with his dogs, or enjoying adventurous road trips to Alaska and many other places all over North America.
Larry is survived by his wife Carol; son Kim (Kindra), daughters Kassie (Brayden) and Kallie (Caleb); daughter Carrie (Brent), grandchildren Jessie (Alan) and Mac (Jessica); and great-granddaughter Georgia. He is also fondly remembered by his extended family and countless friends.
A quiet man of steady presence and deep kindness, Larry's legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the roads, both real and metaphorical that he built for us all to walk. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements 403 507 8610 www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
