1957 – 2025
Mr. Ronald Dwayne Botham of Sundre, Alberta passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 68 years.
Ron was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, and lived in the Sundre area his entire life. Ron became well known as a young man for his ability to fix anything with a cord or a motor. If it could be taken apart and put back together Ron would find away to do it. With over four decades as a licensed mechanic, he had an uncanny ability to diagnose and fix problems others couldn’t find.
Televisions and radios were brought to him for repairs, with him later building and selling satellite systems, and eventually adding computer technician to his resume. Ron was especially proud of his designed solar power system he installed on their home in the most recent years. Even in his hobbies, Ron never had idle hands. After obtaining his private pilots license in the 90’s, he built an Ultralight airplane in the basement of the family home, and an entire cabin was constructed of gathered river rock and concrete, complete with two rooms and a working fireplace.
Music was a constant, with Ron having taught himself to play guitar, and eventually recording an album of his original music. Jamming and singing with friends and family was a favorite pastime. He enjoyed gardening, and his cats were quite likely the most spoiled pets around.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Raylene, and her children Draygen and Katara; his son Richard (Sara); his daughter Angela (Nolan) and his eight grandchildren, Emily, Hayley, Kevin, Brendan, Breanna, Phillip, Andrew and Amanda as well as many extended family and friends too numerous to mention.
Ron was predeceased by his father Frank, and his mother Emily.
