MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Local youth Zander Ewert has been officially recognized for his design of the county’s new honorary livestock brand.
Ewert’s submission was one of 18 submitted in the county’s youth brand design contest. The winning brand features the letters M and V inside a larger C.
The contest was to create an honorary brand that would “reflect Mountain View County’s strong agriculture identity and rich history.”
The winning entry was selected by council at the Feb. 12 council meeting.
Council presented Ewert with a commemorative buckle featuring the new brand during the May 21 council meeting.
“I’m honoured to be here today to recognize the creativity and vision of a very special young person in our community,” reeve Angela Aalbers said during the council meeting.
“We wanted something that would honour our roots while engaging the next generation. With that in mind we reached out to our local youths includes 4-H groups and invited them to take in a livestock brand design contest.”
Ewert’s design “really stood out” and captured “the spirit and character of Mountain View County,” she said.
“This brand will now be a proud symbol of Mountain View County’s agriculture roots, used in marketing efforts, at community events, and on promotional items and staff apparel.”
“Zander, your creativity has left a lasting impression and we are so proud to recognize your contribution.”
Aalbers thanks all those who made submissions to the honorary brand contest.
“The response was incredible. We received 18 thoughtful and creative submissions, each one reflecting the passion and pride of our young residents,” she said.
