Lightning causes power outage southeast of Carstairs Saturday

Nearly 50 Mountain View County customers impacted Aug. 2

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Lightning caused a power outage Saturday morning that affected nearly 50 customers southeast of Carstairs.

According to FortisAlberta, an outage started at 9:08 a.m. Aug. 2 in Mountain View County southeast of Carstairs leaving 49 customers without power.

The company says lightning was to blame.

It estimated power could be restored by early afternoon but it was restored within a couple hours.

Fortis confirmed that lightning also caused a power outage south of Calgary Saturday morning affecting 237 customers.
