Two local high school cross-country runners finished in the top 10 at the provincials held in Red Deer Oct. 20.

Both the men's and women's Olds College Broncos Alberta Colleges Athletic League volleyball teams had tough weekends, going winless in home-and-home matches against the Ambrose University College Lions on Friday and Saturday.

The Olds Grizzlys suffered three straight defeats last week, extending their current winless streak to four straight Alberta Junior Hockey League games.

Members of the Meadow Creek Vaulting Club attained high placings during the 2012 VaultCanada National Championships and AEVA/SEVA Provincial Vaulting Championships October 12 – 14.

The Olds Midget AA Grizzlys are ready to take another run at the provincial title this year, following up on their second straight semifinal loss last season as the Midget A Mustangs.

This past weekend saw the Eagles host the Lloydminster Border Kings for a double header. With Lloyd hosting the Allan Cup this year the boys knew they were in for a challenging weekend.

Innisfail students shone brightly through the falling snow during the Central West Alberta Junior High Athletic Association cross-country run Oct. 11 in Sylvan Lake.

In volleyball action, City Girls Cyclones roared through Olds on the weekend, winning the OHS 2012 tournament undefeated.

A total of nine members of the Meadow Creek Vaulting Club will be attending the Alberta and Saskatchewan provincial championships as well as the national championships in Ponoka on Oct. 13 and 14.

Alan Finch brought home a gold medal from the first-ever national Special Olympics golf tournament held in Mount Hope, Ont. Sept. 28 and 29 at the Chippowa Creek Golf Club.
