The Olds Grizzlys found themselves fighting a losing battle in two home contests last week against Alberta Junior Hockey League opponents.

The Olds College Broncos junior varsity women's basketball team came away from a recent pre-season trip to the West Coast brimming with confidence after beating the Camosun College Chargers in Victoria on Nov. 5, 71-68 in overtime.

IHS senior girls maintained their undefeated status last week, finishing the last league game of the season victorious against the rival undefeated team from Camrose. “It was nerve-racking,” said Taryn Kramer of the final game of the night.

The Olds Grizzlys traded the team's top scorer so far this season, Taylor Bourne, to the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League in exchange for 18-year-old forward Mitch Deacon and future considerations.

In 2009, the Peewee Cyclones football team shocked the province by winning the B-side championship and winning a silver medal at provincials. That year was the first time in Football Alberta history a town, not a city, was in the provincial finals.
