Eighteen athletes from Sundre High School's track and field team are participating in the provincial championship in Calgary this weekend. “They will be contending for their fifth provincial championship,” said coach Judy Jackson.

Innisfail Minor Soccer has 198 players registered this soccer season.

A total of 11 athletes from Olds High School will be participating in the Junior South Central Zone Track and Field Championships on June 5 in Calgary.

The Olds High School Spartans girls rugby team was unable to overcome a slow start on May 22 and was ultimately defeated 30-17 at the hands of the Lacombe Composite High School Rams in Lacombe.

Fans were treated to a series of high-energy lacrosse games over the weekend that showed the determination of local forces on the floor and in the stands.

The level of conversation rises and falls throughout the second-floor bar at the Penhold Regional Multiplex over the course of the evening, but the steady stream of projectiles heading horizontally through the air is nearly continuous.

A total of 23 members of the Olds High School track and field team qualified for the zone championships while competing at the Mountain View County Championships held in Didsbury on May 15.

It took nearly 26 hours in the air and a shellacking from their Spanish counterparts.

There are some high hopes at Olds High School for a great track and field season from the school's athletes.

The Innisfail Phantoms showed their dominant stripes as lacrosse action complete with bodychecks, crisp passing and stunning goals sent the season into high gear.
