The Innisfail Bantam Cyclones' quest for their first league title in eight years of existence came to a disappointing end in front of the hometown fans this weekend.

The Olds Grizzlys scored six unanswered goals on Nov. 2 against the Okotoks Oilers on the way to a 6-3 victory, avenging a 5-2 defeat the previous night against the same team. The Grizzlys also beat the Sherwood Park Crusaders 2-1 on Oct.

The Olds High School Spartans football team downed the Notre Dame High School Cougars in Red Deer 34-9 on Oct. 22, improving the team's season record to 6-2. The Spartans will play the Cochrane High School Cougars on Nov.

Olds native Spencer Dorowicz is enjoying his final season with his hometown Olds Grizzlys, leading the team in scoring through the first 19 games of the season, with 16 goals and 11 assists.

The Olds Grizzlys earned four points during games last week, with a 5-3 win over the Camrose Kodiaks on Oct. 25 and a 2-1 victory over the Drayton Valley Thunder on Oct. 22. The Grizzlys were defeated 2-1 on Oct. 26 by the Calgary Canucks.

The Olds College women's Broncos went down to a 77-48 defeat to the Augustana University College Vikings in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference basketball action on Oct. 24. The women now have a 2-1 record on the season.

Despite a valiant second half charge that saw them leading 7-6 midway through the fourth quarter, the Innisfail Pee Wee Cyclones' season came to an end following a 15-7 loss to the Red Deer Hornets at Great Chief Park on Saturday.

Taylor Bilyk and BJ Duffin returned to the Olds Grizzlys lineup on Oct. 26 after each served two-game suspensions for their part in an after-the-game altercation on Oct. 19 in Whitecourt against the Wolverines.

The Olds High School Spartans split a pair of games last week, beating the James Fowler High School Falcons of Calgary 38-6 on Oct. 16 at Normie Kwong Park and losing 29-21 to St. Mary's High School of Calgary on Oct.14 in Calgary.

With less than two minutes to play, the Innisfail Eagles turned the tables on the Okotoks Drillers to pull out a 5-3 victory in the season home opener last Friday night.
