The Olds Grizzlys split a pair of games on the road last week, losing 4-2 to the Canmore Eagles on Nov. 26 and beating the Calgary Canucks 5-2 on Nov. 30 in Alberta Junior Hockey League play.

The Olds High School Spartans football team wrapped up another year on Nov. 26 during the team's awards night held at the school.

With the first half of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conferences season coming to a close last week for basketball and volleyball, only the Olds College Broncos women's volleyball team had a winning record.

Brett Hopfe, head coach of the Olds Grizzlys, was unhappy with the officiating following a lopsided 10-2 loss at the hands of the Spruce Grove Saints on Nov. 23 in Alberta Junior Hockey League play.

Olds' minor hockey teams are off to a good start midway through the 2013-14 season, with most squads sporting winning records throughout the first weeks of the season.

The Olds Koinonia Christian School Royals senior girls volleyball team finished second at a zones tournament earlier this month, capping off the best showing for the team in 31 years.

Local runner Jelmer van den Hadelkamp will be attending the national cross-country meet on Nov. 30 in Vancouver and is the only student attending from Sundre High School.

Sundre High School's senior girls volleyball team placed first in the south division of their league this year. The team played against Olds in the south finals on Nov. 13 at the high school and won.
