OLDS — Aug. 9 was National Pickleball Day and members of the Olds Pickleball Club celebrated by playing a few games that evening at the outdoor courts in Centennial Park.

Eighteen people took part.

“That was the first time we had organized anything for National Pickleball Day,” Mary Wilson of the club wrote to the Albertan in an email.

National Pickleball Day was established in 2021.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness for the game and encourage more people, of all ages to consider playing the game.

“The courts have been well used this summer. It has been a successful season so far,” Wilson wrote. “We are getting organized for the fall indoor season now too, as the summer outdoor season is entering its last month.”
