OLDS — The École Olds High School Grade 9 girls volleyball team capped off its 2024 season by winning the league championship.

In an email, head coach Blake Machan said the team won both its semifinal and the league final on Thursday, Nov. 21.

"The girls played awesome across the board," he wrote. "They served, passed and played defensively as (well) as we did all season. It was a great team effort."

That success came on top of more success. The Spartans won a bronze medal at zones, held Nov. 15-16 in Brooks.

“The only games we lost were against the top two teams," Machan wrote.

“We played well, with great serving from our top servers, a great effort at setter by Lexi Livingstone, who replaced our starting setter mid-way during the year after injury and solid defence led by our libero, Allora Scott. It was a solid performance," he said.
