OLDS — The Olds Golf Club has hired a new head pro – the first woman to hold that position in the club’s 100-year history.

The hiring of Class A professional Melissa Perron for the post was announced in an Aug. 9 club newsletter. She starts her new position Sept. 1.

Perron has more than 10 years of experience in the industry,

“Melissa joins us from the Innisfail Golf Club, where she has spent the past two seasons serving as their first associate professional,” the newsletter says.

“Her career also includes time at the Riverbend Golf Club and Carstairs Golf Club, experiences that have provided her with a strong foundation in event management, player development, pro shop operations and enhancing the customer experience at every club she has been part of.”

The newsletter also says Perron also brings “exceptional experience in golf instruction, tournament management, merchandising, and customer service.”

“Melissa’s passion for the game, dynamic personality, and commitment to growth will be a tremendous asset to our programs and members for years to come,” it adds.
