Didsbury rodeo highlights fine competition

Foothills Cowboy Association members from around central Alberta competed for points Aug. 15, 16

DIDSBURY - The annual Didsbury Foothills Cowboy Association (FCA) rodeo Aug. 15-16 saw spectators of all ages enjoy lots of good arena action and competition under fine mid-summer weather conditions. 

Athletes from Sundre, Carstairs, Olds, Didsbury, Water Valley, Crossfield, Bowden, Bergen, Cochrane and Airdrie were among those who competed.

Unofficial results were released by the FCA in all categories. Many events were decided by close scores and times.

Jaxon Campbell won the bareback event with a 60 score.

Thomas French won the saddleback event with a 72 score, beating out Peter Duffy and Jay Meston, who both scored 67s.

Daxton Pringle won the junior bull riding with a 70 score, defeating Karter Downing with a 60.5 and Brekyn Goodwin for Carstairs with a 60.

Rex Curtis scored a 70 to win the junior steer riding event, with Bergen’s Colt Gunderson finishing second with a 68.

Thomas French won the novice horse riding event with a 70 score.

Sundre’s Rees Wilson won the steer wrestling event wth a 6.6 time. 

BJ Zieffle won the tie down roping event with a 12.1 second time.

Sheldon Lange and Braden Lange won the team roping event with an 8.2-second run.

Crystal Loughran won the ladies barrel racing event with a 16.069 second time.

Jet Daines won the junior barrel racing event with a 16.427 time.

Emma Charbonneau won the pee wee barrel racing event with a 17.177 second time.
