HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania is home to five heavily contested races for the U.S. House, contests that will be critical to determining control of a narrowly divided chamber where Democrats need a net pickup of four seats to take control.

Republican Mike Kennedy won election to Utah's only open U.S. House seat on Wednesday, holding the seat for his party. Kennedy handily defeated Democratic nominee Glenn Wright.

Republican Rep. Blake Moore won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Utah on Wednesday. This will be Moore's third two-year term in the House, having first been elected in 2020.

Democrat Shri Thanedar won election to a U.S. House seat representing Michigan on Wednesday. The victory secures Thanedar another two years as the representative for most of Detroit, where he was first elected in 2022.

Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Democratic Rep. Frank Mrvan won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Indiana on Wednesday. The second-term congressman represents a district in the northwest corner of the state near Chicago and Lake Michigan.

Democrat Josh Riley won election to a U.S. House seat representing New York on Wednesday, defeating Republican Rep. Marc Molinaro. Riley, an attorney, first faced Molinaro in the 2022 midterm election and narrowly lost to him.

Vice President Kamala Harris won New Hampshire on Wednesday, continuing the state’s two-decade-long streak of awarding its four electoral votes to Democrats. New Hampshire has backed Democrats in seven of the last eight presidential elections.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Republicans prevailed Tuesday in a must-win Senate race in Ohio, as Trump-backed Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno defeated Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown to help shift control of the chamber to the GOP.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware state Sen. Sarah McBride has been elected to the U.S. House and will become the first openly transgender person to serve in Congress.
