A standing ovation followed Dr. Eva Olsson's evening presentation at Sundre High School last Thursday. Born in Hungary, Olsson is an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor who travels worldwide to share her story.

Town of Sundre council passed the increase of $12,417 to the 2013 operating budget, during the April 15 council meeting.

Town of Sundre council passed second and third readings of a bylaw creating a new Recreational Vehicle (RV-1) District, during the council meeting on April 15.

A proposal from W/C Johnston Consulting Ltd. to provide the director of disaster services for the town was approved by council during the March 18 meeting.

Sundre pharmacies are closing their doors and participating in a provincewide pharmacist rally from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Sundre's volunteer fire department has once again saved the day. A couple who live just west of town are commending the fire department for their “speedy response” to eliminate hungry flames attacking their garage a couple of weeks ago.

Hit and run at Home Hardware A hit and run took place in the Home Hardware parking lot in Sundre on March 30. Sundre RCMP constable Val Dennis said in a press release that a red 2011 Dodge pickup truck was hit while parked there.

Sundre mayor Annette Clews is proud to have been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Member of Parliament Blake Richards presented the medal to Clews at the Sundre council meeting on April 2.

The Town of Sundre is proposing a new land use bylaw to replace the existing recreation vehicle direct control (RV-DC) district. Council passed first reading of the new bylaw during the March 18 meeting.

Once again people in the community are coming together. An “open mic night” has been arranged for locals to get out in the community and share talents with each other.
