SUNDRE – A 61-year-old woman was charged earlier this summer with both fraud and theft after allegedly embezzling in excess of $147,000.

The Sundre RCMP detachment had on Aug. 9, 2024 received a complaint regarding a loss of funds from multiple accounts belonging to Mountain View Estates, said Sgt. Courtney Harding.

The ensuing investigation revealed the treasurer of Mountain View Estates Condominium Plan took funds in excess of $147,000 over the span of approximately two years.

The accused, Carolyn Sykes, from Sundre, was earlier this summer subsequently charged on June 18 with both fraud and theft of more than $5,000.

A summons was issued for her to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Aug. 11, when the case was adjourned and another appearance scheduled for Sept. 15.
