SUNDRE – Anyone interested in learning more about the Town of Sundre’s plan to upgrade the municipality’s wastewater treatment facility is invited to attend Thursday's open house.
To facilitate attendance for people with varying availabilities, three times have been scheduled for the morning, afternoon and evening of Aug. 21 at 10:30-11:30 a.m., 1:30-2:30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the town office’s council chamber, located at 717 Main Avenue West.
The municipality most recently submitted an application to Alberta Environment and Protected Areas to renew its approval for the sewage lagoon as part of an ongoing effort to ensure continued compliance with current environmental standards.
According to a statement posted late last month on the town’s official website, the open house is being hosted in collaboration with Alberta Environment as well as Soneera Water Canada.
The open house will feature not only information about the project to upgrade the existing three-cell lagoon system with advanced treatment technology but also a tour of the miniature mobile pilot demonstration unit used throughout the duration of the testing period.
People who attend will get a chance to learn about the upgraded facility that among other elements will include: a chemical-free electro flocculation system, new filtration systems, UV disinfection to reduce or eliminate microorganism, and sludge treatment.
