SUNDRE – The annual May Queen program at Sundre High School recently wrapped up with students raising a little more than $17,000.

In what principal Scott Saunders hailed as “an incredible run,” he said the 2025 program marked “another hugely successful year for our students.”

“Thanks to the combined efforts of students, staff, parents, and community members, we collectively raised a remarkable $17,279,” he said.

“This substantial sum will support a variety of Sundre High leadership projects and activities throughout the coming year and will also contribute to each grade’s prom account.”

The Class of 2025 raised $4,835 to claim the title of May Queen Champions for a second year in a row courtesy of the leadership efforts of Lucas Dziadek and Colin Newsham.

“To all the students who dedicated their time and effort to May Queen 2025, your results are truly amazing,” said Saunders. “You have every reason to be proud, and you’ve certainly made us proud!”

The program is one of the school’s most impactful activities in the community, he said.

“Although a great deal of money is raised, May Queen is not just about money and competition,” he said.

“It’s about a community working together to teach youth about desirable personal characteristics such as responsibility, commitment, initiative, leadership, and respect.”

The principal extended his appreciation to all of the parents as well as the businesses and community members who continue to support the program by hiring, supervising and driving the students.
