Ghosts of the Gravel returns to Water Valley area

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – The 11th edition of the Ghosts of the Gravel once again returned to the Water Valley area.

The national championship event held on Sunday, June 15 was sanctioned by Cycling Canada and organized by Deadgoat Racing from Calgary.

Throughout most of the 11 years the race has been held, it has been out of Water Valley.   

The course ran a distance of 118 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 1,736 metres.

Winners of the elite, junior and masters categories are invited to the UCI World Championships.

Andrew L’Esperance of Waterloo, Qué., who at one point led the elite men’s category, would eventually place third to second place Adam Roberge of Prévost, Qué. and winner, Benjamin Perry of St. Catherines, Ont., with Michael van den Ham of Chilliwack, B.C. rounding out an extremely tight sprint to the finish.
