Conrad Black has never been an easy guy to like. Years ago when this scribe was a Calgary Herald scribbler and Black was the owner of that paper it was pure sport to speak the very worst about this man.

Premier Ed Stelmach's plan to close the Red Deer Nursing Home and Valley Park Manor will uproot seniors from their homes, and force them into private facilities where profits are put before people.

Red Deer recently lost one of its most dynamic citizens. Dr. Sadie Lampard, a dedicated community volunteer and philanthropist, who was also the first certified woman optometrist to practice in Alberta, passed away on Aug. 1, 2010.

I have tried to inform Red Deer and area Albertans of the plight of seniors' issues in Alberta. I hold no position or belong to any seniors' organization anywhere. Most of my letters do not get published.
