When it comes to elections in Canada, we have three at the top of the list: municipal, provincial/territorial as well as federal.

The race for seats on Sundre's council is heating up. With the municipal election looming around the corner for Oct. 16 — and the advanced vote scheduled for Oct. 6 — eligible Sundre voters have many candidates to choose from.

In writing a paper for the University of Waterloo, I've been thinking a lot about the idea of developing Sundre into one of Alberta's top destinations for culture, recreation, events and conferences.

If you live in Innisfail, Olds, Bowden, Didsbury or Carstairs there's a good chance the newspaper you're reading was delivered by a carrier. Carriers are a dedicated lot. They're responsible and, in most cases, very reliable.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight that in your coverage of schools in Olds in the Sept. 26 edition of the Olds Albertan, you mistakenly forgot to include our school.

In 2010, I thought it would be interesting to find out how our town ticked from the inside and threw my name in the ring for this job they call councillor. I thought I knew what I was getting into and was looking forward to learning more.

It's only fair to give credit where credit is due.

I feel there are several reasons why the automated garbage service will not be a benefit to the citizens of Innisfail. Take a drive around town and see how well people keep up their front yards now.
