News that Olds will have yet another marijuana producer is a bit perplexing and lends to some musings.

As we look at 2017 in the rear view mirror it’s fitting to review the federal political scene. Members of the Conservative Party of Canada across the country chose Andrew Scheer to be its new federal leader.

Just before Christmas the town issued a news release that council had begun to shape its vision for its new four-year mandate by completing a draft strategic plan.

The fall session of the legislature began on Oct. 31.

It has bothered me for several years that there is so much hype for Halloween -- the money spent on decorations, costumes and candy. Don't get me wrong.

The year 2017 has been a year of transition and new beginnings for Penhold. Thanks to all those who let their names stand in the municipal elections out of a desire to make Penhold a better community.
