Numerous people facing chargesNumerous people are facing charges following the theft of a licence plate stolen from a vehicle parked at the Ramada Inn overnight between Nov. 24 and Nov. 25. The plate was stolen from a white 2009 Chev Silverado.

RCMP say the two drivers involved in a collision near Didsbury last week were lucky to avoid serious injury. On Nov. 24 at 5:45 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy. 582 and Hwy. 2A.

A fire erupted inside Paint Pot on 50th Street in Olds last Saturday evening at around 8:30 p.m. while the store was closed for business.

The Community Learning Campus fitness centre will be helping out the Mountain View Food Bank over the next two weeks, collecting donations of non-perishable food items. The effort was to begin Monday and run until Dec. 14.

Town council approved a change last week to utility accounts that would allow town staff to disconnect services to any customer that doesn't pay their bill after more than 30 days' receipt of that bill.

Town council granted a request last week from the Olds Grizzlys to forgive the interest charges on unpaid ice bills from the 2011-12 season. The interest charges amounted to $3,605.

Town administration has allocated $17,000 to do a municipal census in 2013 because it believes the federal census done in 2011 may not accurately reflect the population in Olds. The federal census pegged the town's population at 8,235.

Olds RCMP has made its first major counterattack against identity theft crimes in the region since new federal legislation was enacted two years ago, with the recent arrest of two individuals late last month.

A record amount of money was raised during this year's Kiwanis Live Auction and will now go towards community groups and projects for years to come. More than 100 bidders took part in the Nov.

Town officials will be undertaking an assessment in the new year of the transportation options and needs in the community. The item was brought forward to the Policies and Priorities committee meeting on Nov.
