It's been a quiet lead-up to nomination day, but town hall in Olds was less than quiet Monday morning, as two mayoral candidates and 13 councillor candidates put their names forward for the Oct. 16 municipal election.

BOWDEN - Paul Webb is running for a second term on Bowden town council. He certainly has experience. Before gaining a seat on Bowden council four years ago, Webb served two terms on Sundre town council.

All current members of council will let their names stand for re-election in October, with the final announcement last Tuesday that long-standing councillor Harvey Walsh will seek a seventh term.

A trial date has been set for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Olds. During a Sept. 11 court appearance in Didsbury, Meelad Samini pleaded not guilty. A trial has been scheduled for April 19, 2018 in Didsbury.
