Two people from Olds College received awards during the annual Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board awards.

Olds town council has set its 2018 budget. The budget totals $28,400,870, down from $28,670,797 in 2017. In order to make it work, taxes will be increased by two per cent, a decision initially made last November.

BOWDEN -- Bowden town council has unanimously approved its 2018 operating budget, which currently calls for a two per cent tax increase, according to Jacqui Molyneux, the town's chief financial officer.

Sundial Growers Inc. is advertising for about 70 jobs for Phase 1 of its Olds cannabis production facility this week. Phase 1 is expected to begin operation this June or July in the industrial park, near the cemetery .

Work will be undertaken this year to repair roofs of several buildings as well as complete upgrades to sewer, water and storm drainage systems on the Olds College (OC) campus. In total, the government is allocating $7.8 million for the improvements.

The board of the Chinook's Edge School Division has approved the conditional sale of Bowden's long-standing Instructional Media Centre (IMC) site. The conditional sale was approved during the April 11 board meeting.
