Studio K Dance Gallery winds up season with year-end recital

More than 350 people came out to watch magic happen during two shows in Olds

OLDS – Plenty of people came out to watch some magic happen during the Studio K Dance Gallery’s season wind up performances.

The dance group’s 13th year-end recital was held on April 26 at the TransCanada Theatre in Olds with the theme Magic Happens.

More than 350 audience members were treated to a spectacular display of talent, passion, and joy as 65 dancers ranging in age from two to adult took the stage during two performances, said Kirsti Bennett, Studio K Dance Gallery owner and instructor.

“From tiny twirlers to seasoned performers, every dancer brought energy and heart to the stage – showcasing the growth, confidence, and creativity they’ve developed throughout the year,” she told the Albertan by email.

The magic is facilitated by a behind-the-scenes effort involving four dedicated teachers as well as a stellar team of parent volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the day ran smoothly, along the way creating a memorable experience for dancers and families alike, said Bennett.

“The recital was a true celebration of the studio’s outstanding festival season, which saw dancers perform in four competitions across Alberta – in Stettler, Camrose, and Olds,” she said.

Those performances earned the dancers dozens of gold, high gold, ruby, and diamond awards, as well as special honours like choreography awards, scholarships, and multiple showcase of stars selections, she said.

“Studio K dancers made a name for themselves both on stage and behind the scenes.”

Earning accolades is always exciting, but what really stood out the most was the dancers’ exemplary character, she said.

“Their support for one another, their kindness to fellow competitors, and the genuine sportsmanship they demonstrated left a lasting impression wherever they performed,” she said.

“As the curtain closes on this season, the entire Studio K family celebrates not just the medals and trophies, but the memories made, the friendships built, and the magic shared through dance.”
