OLDS – The municipality has effective immediately implemented a level 2 water restriction after a water line was accidentally struck by a contractor at 5406 46 St., near Tim Hortons.

“Crews are actively on site working to repair the damage and restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible,” states a news release issued by the town.

While the repair work is underway, water will remain available, but the pressure may be lower than usual.

Town officials say tap water will remain safe to drink. However, the pressure may be low for water-reliant appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and irrigation systems.

“Consider postponing use if possible,” the release says.

Town officials will notify residents when the restriction is lifted on its current construction webpage and on social media.
